We are registered with the Health Professions Council, which is a regulator of various health professions to ensure standards for training, professional skills, behaviour and health are met. Our knowledge is kept up to date to enable us to provide you with comprehensive care and treatment. We believe in preventative foot care and we carefully tailor our advice to suit your needs.
Charles Qualified from Birmingham School of Chiropody and Podiatry in 1994, with a Bachelor of Science as a State Registered Practitioner. This was the inaugural year of the BSc program at the School of Podiatry.
Charles had previously qualified as an Operating Department Practitioner where he has extensively worked in all aspects of surgical theatre work, which included surgical scrub and anaesthetic assistant roles. This work gave him a great base for his undergraduate and postgraduate training as a podiatrist.
Charles has gained professional experience in all aspects of podiatry whilst working in a variety of clinical settings for North Birmingham PCT.
This included Biomechanics Clinics for the community service. While here Charles had a keen interest in Podiatric Surgery, and went on to take his written surgical exams, which he passed.
He was seconded to East Birmingham Hospital (Know The Heartlands Hospital), whilst working for North Birmingham as Diabetic Specialist for eighteen months.
At East Birmingham Hospital, He was responsible for the education of second and final year students in aseptic technique for nail surgery.
In 2000 Charles took up a new post for South Birmingham PCT as a Senior Specialist Podiatrist.
He worked in the Hospitals for Rehabilitation, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health. Here he gained experience in highly specialist wound care for diabetics and amputees and did joint clinics with tissue viability teams.
Charles was also involved in initiating a steroid injection therapy clinic within South Birmingham PCT.
Charles has been in private practice in Edgbaston for over fifteen years with a strong emphasis on musculoskeletal biomechanical examination. This has included good links for referrals to surgical colleagues for treatment and rehabilitation of foot and ankle conditions.
Continuing Professional Development has included The Society of Chiropodists Ambulatory Surgical Program, Diploma of Diabetes, and Steroid Injection Therapy. Dermatology, Biomechanics, Vascular and Neurological Examination and Podo-paediatrics.
Charles is a keen sportsman and has played Rugby for Moseley Rugby Club and also county level Hockey in his youth. He is a keen skier, this has given him a valuable insight into the treatment and rehabilitation of sports injures of the lower limb.
Mrs Joanne Fraser Qualified from Birmingham School of Chiropody and Podiatry in 1988 as a State Registered Practitioner.
Joanne gained experience in all aspects of podiatry whilst working in a variety of clinical settings for East Birmingham Health Authority.
In 1996 she held the position of community diabetic podiatrist and worked along side GP’s in their practice’s treating and advising on diabetic foot care.
In 2000 Joanne took up a new post for South Birmingham PCT as a Senior Specialist Diabetic Podiatrist.
Whilst in this position, Joanne also gained invaluable experience in her rotation to the specialist clinics with Selly Oak Hospital Diabetic Foot Team.
Joanne has also been involved in the training and assessing of podiatry students for minor surgical procedures this includes teaching anaesthetic technique and surgical skills.
Joanne has been in private practice for over twenty years with a strong emphasis on preventative measures. This has included the prescription and manufacture of insoles to accommodate painful lesions. Joanne has a special interest in the treatment of verrucae with cryosurgery.
Joanne’s Continuing Professional Development includes, Diploma of Diabetes, Dermatology, Vascular and Neurological Examination, Specialist Diabetic Conferences, to name but a few
Outside her professional life Joanne has still got time to raise two lovely children and pursues a number of interesting hobbies top of the list being, flower arranging “floristry” and swimming.
